Buzzing with Learning: Bee Hotel Workshop Inspires Students at Kurrawong Park!
On Wednesday, 18 March, students (together with their parents/guardians) at Kurrawong Park in Tamworth enjoyed an engaging and hands-on bee
hotel workshop with Clancy Lester, the “Bee Man.”
Clancy was an incredible presenter, and students were captivated by his knowledge and enthusiasm. They thoroughly enjoyed his presentation while learning how to build a variety of bee hotels using different materials and designs to support native bee populations.
Throughout the session, students also explored the important role pollinators play in our environment, including their contribution to biodiversity, ecosystem health, and food production.
This fantastic workshop was supported by Local Land Services (LLS) and Tamworth Landcare. A huge thank you to Penny Milson and Susan Wilson from Tamworth Regional Landcare Association (TRLA) for their amazing support in making the day such a success.
Penny Milson, Project Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, plays a vital role at Kurrawong Park. She is leading the transformation of the space into a thriving urban refuge for wildlife, coordinating volunteers and overseeing the planting of native trees, shrubs, and grasses. With the support of local residents and Tamworth Regional Council, the project aims to establish nearly 300 native plants by the end of spring, creating a rich and biodiverse habitat for the community to enjoy.
It was an inspiring day of learning, creativity, and environmental action!
