Flying Ferals - Networking Event for Feral Bird Control

Flying Ferals - Networking Event for Feral Bird Control

A casual get together for anyone concerned about feral birds like the Common (Indian) Myna and Common Starling. The event aims to bring together likeminded people, together with the key supporters of the Tamworth LGA Feral Bird Control Program.

Tamworth Birdwatchers Inc will be launching the feral bird control trailer, funded by Tamworth Regional Council and made locally by the Tamworth Community Men’s Shed. The trailer, to be parked on Council land, will offer local residents a free and convenient option for the humane disposal of feral birds trapped at home.

Tamworth Birdwatchers Inc representatives will be on hand to answer your questions about feral birds and how to deal with them at your place.

Participants are welcome to drop in anytime from 4:30pm – 7pm.  Free nibbles will be provided; drinks at own expense.  There will be a 10-minute presentation at 6pm.

Take home resources will be available, and the new trailer and traps will be on display.

All Welcome!

Just A Farmer Screening

Just A Farmer Screening

Join the Upper Peel Landcare Group for a heartfelt afternoon at Nundle Memorial Hall, featuring a screening of the powerful Australian film Just a Farmer. This moving story explores resilience, grief, and the often-unspoken realities of life on the land, shining a light on the mental health challenges faced by farming families and the importance of reaching out and supporting one another.

This event is more than a film—it’s an opportunity for our community to come together in a warm, welcoming space where people can connect, reflect, and feel supported. Following the screening, a panel of local voices including Ian Worley, Sam Mackaway, Dr Cam Henderson, and Tammy Shields will guide a relaxed and supportive discussion, encouraging open conversation and shared understanding.

This is a free event, thanks to the generous support of Blackdog Ride and The Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP), attendees will enjoy afternoon tea, and even a nourishing take-home meal—giving you a chance to take a break and recharge. Whether you come for the film, the conversation, or simply to be part of a caring community, you’ll find a safe and supportive environment where you’re not alone. Register now and be part of this important conversation.

'Let's Talk About Soil Carbon'. Over two days in Narrabri and Tamworth, 125 landholders from across the North West had the privilege of hearing from innovator, leader, pioneer and change-maker Dr Terry McCosker from RCS and CarbonLink. It was inspiring, challenging but most of all motivating. Along with the science, we also heard about opportunities for carbon projects from CarbonLink, Climate Friendly and South Pole. A big thank you to all our wonderful speakers and to everyone who attended. Proudly supported by Tamworth Regional Landcare Association and Northern Slopes Landcare Association Inc.

The concept is so compatible with Australian culture it’s hard not to get involved! By becoming a TRLA member, you’ll be supporting our work, learning new skills, becoming part of the solution, and helping to make a difference for the future.
