Spring Has Sprung – It’s Time to Get Planting!

Spring is here, and after some much-needed rain across the region, our landscapes are starting to wake up! The combination of warmer days, moisture in the soil and longer daylight hours makes this a fantastic time to get out into the garden and start planting.

Whether you’re looking to add a few native plants to your backyard, create habitat for local wildlife,  or get started on a larger revegetation project, spring is the perfect opportunity to get growing.

At the Tamworth Regional Landcare Nursery, we have a great range of locally grown native plants suited to our region. The nursery produces more than 100 species, including trees, shrubs, grasses and groundcovers , using locally collected and propagated seed.

Planting locally native species is a great way to support the wildlife that calls our region home while also helping to build healthier and more resilient landscapes. Native plants can provide food, shelter and habitat for birds, insects, lizards and other wildlife.

And with the recent rain, now is a great time to take advantage of the moisture in the ground. Getting plants established while conditions are favourable can give them a strong start before we head into the hotter months. Just remember that even with a good start, young plants will still need care and watering during extended periods of heat and dry weather.

So, if you’ve been thinking about planting one more tree, creating a native garden, filling a few bare spots or starting a bigger Landcare project, why not drop into the nursery and see what’s available?
