STAGE 2

Grassy Box Woodland
Connections, Biodiversity and Regeneration

This unit provides students with opportunities to investigate a Grassy Box Woodland ecosystem in North West New South Wales through hands-on, inquiry-based fieldwork. Students explore biodiversity, soil health, food webs, and the interdependence of living and non-living components of the environment.

The unit emphasises observation, classification, and explanation of relationships within ecosystems, while developing an understanding of regenerative practices. Students investigate how ecosystems function and propose actions that actively restore, improve and regenerate the environment.

Kamilaroi/Gomeroi Perspective embedded throughout, particularly the concept of Caring for Country, recognising the deep knowledge and regenerative land practices of Aboriginal peoples in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

Our members often say that when you become part of Landcare, you’re not just joining a group, you’re becoming part of a family. The concept is so compatible with Australian culture it’s hard not to get involved! By becoming a TRLA member, you’ll be supporting our work, learning new skills, becoming part of the solution, and helping to make a difference for the future.
