Governance

TRLA Committee will continue to deliver a financially stable future for our groups and members and will be supported by TRLA employees to deliver best practice outcomes for Landcare in the Tamworth region. We will continue to build an inclusive Landcare community and will work to provide Landcare spaces that are accessible to all. Our work will support grassroots environmental conservation and foster the social and environmental health of our communities.

TRLA aims to grow the Landcare movement through participatory leadership, facilitation, strong local and regional partnerships, well-supported on the ground works and an engaged membership.

Landcare in the Tamworth region will be innovative, vibrant and contemporary with a reputation for professionalism and quality.

Beyond Soil Sustainability

Upper Mooki Landcare conducted a very successful workshop “Beyond Soil Sustainability: Wisdom from Gabe Brown, Col Seis & Walter Jehne” on March 3rd 2025.

Originally planned to be held at the historic Windy Woolshed, a wild storm resulted in the woolshed roof being damaged and the venue moved to the Theatre Royal in Quirindi.  Liverpool Plains Shire Council provided support to bring the Theatre out of mothballs, and it was fabulous to see a full theatre with around 350 people attending.

Women’s Soil Health Workshop!

Join Us for an Inspiring Women’s Soil Health Workshop!

Tamworth Regional Landcare Association, in partnership with Climate Friendly, invites you to an engaging and informative Women’s Soil Health Workshop. This hands-on event is designed to equip women with the skills and knowledge to enhance soil health, boost farm productivity, and contribute to sustainable land management.

Soils for women workshop

Participants will gain valuable hands on knowledge from a range of experts. They will learn how to conduct soil and water tests with the guidance of Anne Michie, equipping them with the skills to assess soil quality and make informed decisions.

Dr Robert banks will introduce them to the different soil types, helping them understand how soil composition impacts plant growth and farm productivity.

Dr Aurelie Quade will teach the importance of soil health, focusing on how carbon levels influence soil fertility and sustainability. Finally, TRLA native plant specialist will explore the role of native plants in supporting farm health, including their benefits for stock welfare, biodiversity and soil preservation.

This hands-on workshop will empower women with the knowledge and tools to enhance farm productivity, sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The application period for the QBE Foundation Local Grants Australia 2025 program has now opened. The application process will be open from Monday 3 March 2025 until Thursday 3 April 2025 at 5pm AEDT.

Did you know (TRLA) run an Annual Small Grants program for Landcare activities connected to the Tamworth region.

Volunteer Landcare and Grassroots Community groups can apply up to $2,500 for activities that meet an objective of TRLA’s strategic plan with eight successful projects being awarded funds from across the region.
